Victorian Easter at Sentry Hill

With spring in the air, flowers starting to bud in the garden and Easter around the corner, Sentry Hill Historic House is preparing to open its doors again for the season! On the 5th of April, Easter Sunday, we will be hosting our Victorian Easter event between 12pm and 4.00pm.
On display in the historic farmhouse will be heritage crafts including quilling, natural dyeing, lace-making and Victorian food tasting. You will also be able to experience the history of the house with the opportunity to meet some characters from the McKinney household.
On top of this there will be Easter games in the garden including an egg hunt.🐣 Craft activities for the children will also run alongside. 🐰
New Exhibit Opening! On display will be a special exhibition of poetry drawn from the archives at the site that will include books by local poets and correspondence, written in rhyming verse, between William Fee McKinney and his large group of friends, further emphasising the interest in culture that was such a feature of the McKinney’s of Sentry Hill. A storyteller will also be on hand to bring some of these poems and stories to life.
There will be traditional music in the garden in the first half of the event and Ballyduff Silver Band will also be there later in the afternoon.
Refreshments will be available, with teas, coffees and cold drinks as well as scones and traybakes to eat while listening to the music or watching the kids play on the lawn.
